Takahashi 3-Year Diary 2027–2029, English Edition (B6): Two Days to a Page, in Narrow Columns
The B6 three-year diary from Takahashi Shoten, a Japanese diary publisher, runs from January 2027 to December 2029 and has an English edition on Amazon US. This file is for a US reader who cannot read Japanese and is deciding whether to buy that edition. The thing to know first is how the page is cut up, because it decides how you will write in it.
Who is writing: I am employed by a Japanese planner maker whose range includes dated diaries; it is not named here and nothing of it is used as a source or an example. I have no business with Takahashi. The book has not been in my hands. Sources: the specification and photographs on Takahashi's Japanese store for the Japanese edition (No.18), read on 24 and 25 October 2026; Takahashi's photograph of its five-year Japanese edition (No.19), read on 25 October 2026; and the Amazon US listings with their photographs, checked on 24 October 2026 without signing in, with the delivery address set first to New York 10001 and then to Los Angeles 90012. Opinions are labelled.
The short answer. Each page holds two days side by side, and under each day sit the three years, so every entry is a column half a page wide. Takahashi's Japanese description calls the amount you write "just right" for writing without effort and suggests the book to people new to multi-year diaries. That is said of writing in Japanese; a half-width line holds fewer English words. The English listing's July photographs have English dates and weekdays and mark Independence Day. Not confirmed for the English edition: the page count, the language of the reference pages and where it is made. If a short daily note in English suits you: → Takahashi 3-Year Journal 2027–2029, B6, English Edition (a paid link; repeated at the end).
How the page is divided
The band in Takahashi's photograph of the Japanese edition describes the layout as 見開き4日(3年分), four days to a spread with three years each. Its photograph of the daily pages (8 to 11 August) shows how that is done: each page is split down the middle into two columns, one per date, and each column is cut into three boxes, 2027, 2028 and 2029, top to bottom. The English listing's photograph of 3 to 6 July has the same four dates across a spread with three year boxes under each.
What that means in practice, from the photographs and not from the book: in each box I count roughly seven faint ruled lines, each half the page's width. The five-year English edition gives a whole page to one date, and in Takahashi's photograph of that book each year's box is full width with about four lines. So the three-year book gives you more lines, each about half as long. Put together, the space per entry looks similar in the two books, perhaps a little less in this one. I have not measured anything; the counts are read off product photographs and could be out by a line.
My view: the narrow column suits a list or a sentence or two. If you write in long lines across the page, the five-year layout fits that habit better, odd as it sounds.
Inside the English edition, as photographed
The seller posted seven photographs on the English listing. Those of the inside are all July:
- Daily spread. Headings "Jul 3" to "Jul 6"; each year's line starts with the year and an English weekday ("2027 Sat"). Checked against the calendar, the weekdays are right for 2027 to 2029 (3 July 2027 is a Saturday, 5 July 2028 a Wednesday). The 2027 Sunday and Monday lines are printed in red, each with a note too small to read in the photograph. A tab with the number 7 sits on the outer edge.
- Monthly page. A month across the spread, a column for each year, a memo area on the left. Under 2027, Sunday the 4th reads "Independence Day" and Monday the 5th "Independence Day (observed)", as far as the photograph's resolution lets me read.
- Reference pages. Named in one image (an age reference chart, a keepsake list, a wish list, gift notes, lined notes) but not shown, so their language is unknown.
Which listing is the English one
The English and Japanese editions share the cover, THREE YEARS DIARY with the three years in foil, so the photo will not settle it. On Amazon US the English edition is "3-Year Journal 2027-2029, B6, English Edition, Yearly Comparison and Memo" (ASIN B0H4PHZ6NS, part number A18). The Japanese edition is "3-Year Daily Journal 2027-2029, Japanese Edition, B6" (ASIN B004L4JVDS).
Claims made only for the Japanese edition
A pen holder, a ribbon marker, a clear cover and "Made in Japan" appear in images on the Japanese edition's Amazon listing and nowhere on the English one's. Takahashi's store gives the Japanese edition a clear cover and 256 pages, and its photographs show one yellow ribbon. Treat all of these as unconfirmed for the English book. The same goes for thickness: if the English edition matches the Japanese one's 256 pages, it is slimmer than Takahashi's five-year B6 diary, but I have not seen that stated for it.
When to choose something else
- You write in long sentences. The half-width column breaks them up; see the layout above.
- You want to start in a month other than January. The first dated line is 1 January 2027.
- You need the reference pages in English, or any holiday beyond the Independence Day seen in July. Neither is confirmed.
Seller, then the link
The English edition, on 24 October 2026 at both ZIP codes, was sold by an account called Takahashi Diary Official (seller ID A2DSSPG1J2HUW8), with no second seller in the all-offers panel. At 10001 the Japanese edition, B004L4JVDS, came from the same account. When you order, check the "Sold by" line and the words "English Edition" in the title.
Not covered here: the greige and A6 pocket versions of Takahashi's three-year diary (both listed as Japanese editions), its desk diaries, and three-year diaries by other makers. Their absence says nothing about them.
