Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Eight affiliate links appear on this page: four Amazon US listings (black, brown, camel and blue), each placed twice, once in the short answer and once in the last section. When I read those listings on 30 October 2026 under ZIP codes 10001 and 90012, no offer on any of them was sold by the brand's US company, by the maker or by Amazon.com. The brand's US store warns that counterfeits of this notebook have been sold in the US. The brand's store and the shops on the maker's list are linked first and earn this site nothing. Amazon's prices and stock are not reproduced here. How this site works.
Traveler's Notebook, Passport Size: Where to Buy One in the US, Shop by Shop
The Passport-size TRAVELER'S notebook is the small version of the leather notebook cover sold under the TRAVELER'S COMPANY brand by Designphil, a Japanese stationery company. It comes as a starter kit in five colors, with the same item codes in Japan and in the US. This page is for a US reader who wants one now. Everything below was read on the morning of 30 October 2026 (Japan time) unless another date is given. Shop and Amazon readings go out of date quickly; one shop changed between one morning and the next.
Before the rest: I work for a Japanese planner maker, which competes with the makers named on this page; none of them is a customer or a supplier of mine, I have no business with any of them, and I do not use my employer or its products as a source or an example.
The short answer. The brand's own US store, TRAVELER'S COMPANY USA, showed all five colors as unavailable. Three online shops on the maker's North America list showed camel or blue as available to buy: Simple Paper (camel, blue), Lovenotebooks.com (camel and blue) and TOKYO PEN SHOP (blue). None of the online shops I read showed black, brown or olive (Goulet as read on 29 October); the list's physical stores I did not check. The brand asks US buyers to use its store or authorized US resellers because counterfeits have been found, and none of the Amazon sellers I read was the brand, the maker or Amazon.com. If you buy on Amazon, read the item code or GTIN, the "Sold by" line, the "Ships from" line and the return terms on the listing first: black, brown, camel, blue (paid links, repeated at the end).
The brand's store and the shops the maker lists
The brand's US store. TRAVELER'S COMPANY USA lists the Passport-size kit at $48.00 in each of the five colors. On 30 October none of the five could be bought there, as on 29 October. I did not find a restock date on the store. Its return and shipping terms are set out in the regular-size file.
The maker's North America shop list. The maker's shop list introduces itself with "The shops listed below carry TRAVELER'S notebooks", and adds that stock varies by store. It does not call them authorized resellers; reading the list as the brand's authorized resellers is my inference. Each shop's returns are its own. What the online shops on it showed for the Passport-size starter kit:
| Online shop on the maker's list | What its site showed | Read on |
|---|---|---|
| Simple Paper | Camel and blue available to buy; no other color came up in its search | 30 October |
| Lovenotebooks.com | Camel and blue available to buy; black, brown and olive not | 30 October |
| TOKYO PEN SHOP | Blue available to buy; the other four not | 30 October |
| JetPens | All five showed "Get Restock Notification"; on 29 October brown, blue and camel still showed an "Add to Cart" button | 30 October |
| The Goulet Pen Company | None of the five available to buy | 29 October |
| Pinky Elephant | Its search showed Passport-size refills but no Passport-size kit | 30 October |
These are not affiliate links. I did not go through any checkout, so each shop's price, shipping and return terms are for you to read there. The list also names physical stores; it suggests calling a store ahead to confirm stock, and I did not call any.
If you buy on Amazon US
The brand's US store prints a note on each Passport-size product page, word for word the one on the regular-size pages: it has found counterfeit TRAVELER'S notebooks distributed in the US, and asks buyers to buy from its own site or authorized US resellers. The note and what it does and does not say are set out in the regular-size file. Amazon is not among the shops the maker lists. That does not make every Amazon offer counterfeit, and I have not checked whether any item on these listings is genuine and have no way to.
The table shows what each listing states that names the maker's product: the maker's item code in the title, or the maker's GTIN in the Product information table. Sellers enter these details; they tell you which product a listing claims to be, not whether the item is genuine.
| Color | ASIN | What the listing states | Seller on the main "Sold by" line, 30 October | Maker's own offer? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black | B003SNY8IQ | Item code 15026006 in the title | Pazu-Sheeta Shop (seller ID A3V4TAL60TVY18), under both ZIP codes | No |
| Brown | B003SNV0YQ | GTIN 04902805150279 in Product information, which also lists a UPC (780411832246) that is not the maker's number; the title uses the old name "Midori" and no item code | Aura Distribution (A260QB3M8Q8P2X) under 10001; NorthlineProducts (A3868XR41OILUO) under 90012 | No |
| Camel | B01BVJPP0I | Item code 15194006 in the title | Vio_Essentials (AQC7WNAQDO727), under both | No |
| Blue | B07BMN895K | Item code 15240006 in the title | JAPAN SHOP NINJA (A2R2FNM2KKPOCB), under both | No |
On every one of the four, I opened the panel of all offers under both ZIP codes. Other sellers were there too, and none of them was TRAVELER'S COMPANY USA, Designphil or Amazon.com. The seller on the main line for brown was a different one under each ZIP code, and for camel it was a different one than on 29 October, so the seller you are shown may not be one I read.
What to read on the listing before you order. I do not reproduce these values; read them on the page, for the offer you are about to take:
- The item code or GTIN. The maker's codes are black 15026006, brown 15027006, camel 15194006, blue 15240006 and olive 15343006.
- "Sold by". The name, and the seller page behind it.
- "Ships from". Whether the parcel starts in the US or abroad; a parcel from Japan can have charges added at the border, which the guide to buying from Japan covers.
- The return terms shown for that offer.
Why the olive is not linked. The olive listing I found (ASIN B0C1J5VLF6) has a title partly in German, with neither the brand name nor the item code, and its Product information table did not show the maker's GTIN when I read it; the number appeared only in the page's browser-tab title. Without the code or GTIN in the listing itself, I do not link it.
What the Japanese product page adds
On each of the five color pages on the maker's Japanese site, the Japanese description says that because the refill is the same size as a passport, the notebook can also be used as a passport cover. The page for the kit as a whole adds, in Japanese, that with a zipper case set inside, it can serve as a passport case, a wallet or a card case.
On the English side I looked in three places for the first claim, that the kit itself works as a passport cover: the English paragraph on the same Japanese color page, the descriptions of the five kits on the brand's US store, and that store's FAQ. None of the three says it. The closest English line I found is on the US store's page for the Zipper Case refill (004, Passport Size), sold separately, which says the back of its pocket lets you insert "the cover of your passport or your refill". So in English, carrying a passport is described as a job for the add-on; the Japanese kit page says the cover alone can do it.
For a sense of the fit, here are the two sets of figures side by side. The maker gives the refill as 124 × 89 mm and 4 mm thick. The standard passport booklet size in the international passport specification (ICAO Doc 9303, the TD3 size) is 125 × 88 mm. A passport is thicker than one refill, and I have not put one in the cover, so how it closes over a passport, and whether it fits beside a refill, are not confirmed here.
What comes in the box, and which refills fit
From the maker's specification:
- Leather cover, H134 × W98 × D10 mm, cowhide, marked made in Thailand.
- Blank notebook refill (003), H124 × W89 × D4 mm, 64 pages of MD Paper, saddle-stitched, marked made in Japan.
- Cotton case, H165 × W120 mm, and a red spare rubber band.
The refills for this cover are the Passport-size ones; the regular-size refills are larger. On 30 October the brand's US store could still sell its Passport-size refills, the 003 blank one included, and its Zipper Case (004), even with the kits gone. The regular-size kit, where each part is made and the brand's terms in full are in the regular-size file. This page is built from the maker's and the shops' pages, not from handling the kit. Other Japanese planners and notebooks on this site start from the planner guide.
Buying it
- The brand's store, when it restocks: TRAVELER'S COMPANY USA. Not an affiliate link.
- The shops on the maker's list, where camel and blue were available to buy on 30 October: the maker's North America shop list, and the shop pages linked in the short answer. Not affiliate links.
- From Japan. The maker's Japanese page says it does not export to individuals; the other routes are in the guide to buying from Japan. I have not tested any of them for this kit.
- Amazon US, after reading the brand's note and the four lines above. On 30 October no offer on these listings was sold by the brand, the maker or Amazon.com. Paid links: black, brown, camel, blue.
Not assessed on this page: how the leather ages or the paper takes ink; the refills one by one; bundles of the kit with other items; limited-edition versions; whether any Amazon item is genuine.
