Disclosure: This page has no affiliate links as of 27 October 2026. Until then it carried one Amazon Associates link, placed twice, to the Amazon US listing for this book; on 26 and 27 October that listing's "Sold by" line named a seller other than Hobonichi under ZIP 10001, and there is no other listing of this book to move the link to, so I removed it; this site moves or removes a link when the "Sold by" line leaves the maker under either of the two ZIP codes it reads. Why, and where to buy, is in the last section. Amazon's prices and stock are not reproduced on this page. How this site works.
Hobonichi Techo 2027 Original, ONE PIECE Edition (Japanese): What the Red Book Adds, and What It Gives Up
Hobonichi sells a 2027 ONE PIECE edition of its A6 page-a-day Original, made with ONE PIECE magazine; Hobonichi describes it as a book with a red cover printed with quotes and original artwork. Its specification table on Hobonichi's English store gives the language as Japanese, and the store adds one note on format: "Note: The One Piece techo is only available in the January/Monday-start format." This page is for a reader in the United States who wants a ONE PIECE planner, or who meant to buy the Japanese Original and saw this one beside it, and who cannot read Japanese. It weighs one choice: this book, or the standard Japanese Original.
If you want to read what is printed inside, in English, neither of the two is your book: Hobonichi's English Original has its own file, which also covers buying from Hobonichi's store in the United States, and ONE PIECE covers appeared in Hobonichi's own Amazon storefront search on 14 October 2026; which of them fit an Original-size book, I have not checked, and I have not assessed them. The ONE PIECE Weeks is a different, weekly type of book, with ONE PIECE on the cover and standard Weeks pages inside; the Weeks file has a note on it, including which edition its Amazon listing describes.
Before the rest: I work for a Japanese planner maker, which competes with the makers named on this page; none of them is a customer or a supplier of mine, I have no business with any of them, and I do not use my employer or its products as a source or an example. I have not handled this book. The sources are Hobonichi's English and Japanese product pages for this book, for the ONE PIECE HON and for the standard Japanese Original, read with its store set to ship to the United States, and the Amazon US listing for this book, read logged out under two US ZIP codes with its all-offers panel open, on 14 and 17 October 2026; for the ONE PIECE Weeks named below, Hobonichi's English store page and its Amazon US listing, on 20 October 2026. It is put together from published specifications, not from testing. I do not reproduce the quotes or the artwork, and there are no pictures of the book here. Where I offer a view of my own, it is labelled.
The short answer. If you want ONE PIECE inside the book, not only on the cover (a quote from the manga on every daily page, a character's birthday marked on the day, illustrations, and four bonus pages of its own), take this book, or its larger twin, the HON, which Hobonichi says has the same contents (below). Of the four books Hobonichi's English store listed as 2027 Original (A6) techo books on 14 October 2026, this was the one shown under the ONE PIECE name. Know what you can use: the quotes are in Japanese, and how the birthday names are written I have not checked, so for a reader without Japanese what is certain to come through is the artwork. In exchange, it comes only with Monday-start weeks, has 12 memo pages to the standard book's 15, and drops six of the standard book's bonus pages. In Hobonichi's own store, set to ship to the United States, it was $5 above the standard Japanese Original on 17 October 2026, on the product page; I did not go to checkout, so whether import charges are included I have not checked. Amazon's price is on its listing.
Where to buy it, Hobonichi's own store first, is under Buying it.
Telling it apart
Three things are easy to mix up when searching.
- The year. On Amazon US, the 2027 book's title reads "Hobonichi Techo 2027 Original Book – A6, One Piece Edition (Jan-start)". The 2026 ONE PIECE Original was still listed when I searched on 14 October 2026, and its title carries "2026" and "Japanese, Daily". The 2027 title does not contain the word "Japanese". Hobonichi lists its language as Japanese. Go by the year, not by whether the word "Japanese" is in the title.
- "Very Very Merry!" is the name of two other ONE PIECE products, not of this book. In Hobonichi's English store it names a HON (covered below). On Amazon US, the listing that appeared under that name in my searches was a Weeks, a different, weekly type of book (ASIN B0HB8TV6R4, not linked here). Hobonichi's English store uses the name for that Weeks as well. It is not assessed on this page; see the Weeks file linked above.
- The seller. The listing can carry offers from more than one seller; the line that tells you whom you are buying from is "Sold by". What I found there is in the last section.
What the red book adds
These come from Hobonichi's English product page for this book, and from its specification table.
- A quote on every daily page (needs Japanese). The specification table gives the daily quotes as "One per day (Japanese / One Piece edition)". Hobonichi's page says they are taken from volumes 1 to 113 of the manga, and that each is printed at the foot of the day with its source given by volume and chapter. The quotes are in Japanese. Whether the volume and chapter numbers are printed as Arabic numerals, I have not checked; I have not seen a photograph of a daily page.
- Themes by month (the theme titles below are Hobonichi's English names; how they are printed in the book, I have not checked). The quotes are grouped under themes, which Hobonichi's English page names as "Straw Hat Crew," "The Two Wings (Zoro & Sanji)," "ASL (Ace, Sabo & Luffy)," "Young Generation," "Middle Generation," "Elder Generation," "Heroines," "Animals," "Rivals" and "Laughter"; December carries words from the author, Eiichiro Oda. The page does not say which month has which theme. Each month opens with a page Hobonichi calls the Monthly Door, carrying the theme's title and an illustration.
- Birthdays (the names: not checked; the crew's illustrations: usable without Japanese). On every daily page, above the quote, a "B" and the names of characters whose birthday falls on that day, as of volume 113, according to Hobonichi. How the names are written, I have not checked. The ten members of the Straw Hat crew also get an illustration beside the date of their birthday.
- Four bonus pages of its own (the language they are printed in: not checked). Chronology (through volume 114 and chapter 1166, says Hobonichi), 30 Very Specific Things We Love About One Piece, Character Age List, and WANTED.
- ONE PIECE art on the shared bonus pages (usable without Japanese). The nine bonus pages it shares with the standard book are, in Hobonichi's words, special editions with ONE PIECE illustrations.
For the rest of a daily page (the day of the week, the Japanese calendar notes and the like), the "Listed Information" in the two books' specification tables is the same seven items; the standard Japanese Original's file goes through what the standard book prints in Japanese and where. Whether this edition lays them out the same way, I have not checked.
What the specification table does not mention
Two things Hobonichi's pages for the standard Japanese Original mention do not appear on its English or Japanese pages for this book. I am noting them as not mentioned, not as missing.
- A mini calendar on the right-hand page of each daily spread (in the standard book's specifications, English and Japanese).
- A seasonal almanac page at the start of each month, which the standard book's Japanese page calls ことしの歳時記 (this book's pages describe the page that opens each month as the Monthly Door, above).
What it gives up
Set beside the standard Japanese Original, by Hobonichi's two specification tables:
| ONE PIECE edition | Standard Japanese Original | |
|---|---|---|
| Week start | Monday only | Monday or Sunday (two versions) |
| Daily quotes | "One per day (Japanese / One Piece edition)" | "One per day (Japanese)" |
| Memo pages | 12 | 15 |
| Bonus pages | 13 | 15 |
| Store's US display, 17 October 2026 | $32.00 | $27.00 |
| Same on both | 148 × 105 × 15 mm, about 195 g, 464 pages, Tomoe River paper, thread-sewn, a 3.7 mm grid (3.45 mm on the monthly pages), January start |
The bonus pages are counted by name. Nine are on both books: Time Table, Favorites, My 100, Solar Terms, Emergency Preparedness, Gifts, Age Table, Addresses, and Personal Notes. Four are in the ONE PIECE edition only (listed above). Six are in the standard book only: Graph Paper, Phrases to Break That Writer's Block, Useful Sign Language Phrases to Know, Hobonichi's Neighborhood: Kanda/Jinbo-cho Map, Conversion Chart, and Getting the most of Hobonichi.
One opinion, marked as one: for a reader who cannot read Japanese, both books are Japanese planners, and what this one adds that such a reader can use for certain is the artwork. Of the losses, the Sunday-start option is the one that changes daily use; the rest is pages you might or might not use.
Which body: the Original, the HON, or the Weeks
- The HON. Hobonichi also sells "ONE PIECE magazine: Very Very Merry!", a HON, its other A6 daily book (store page, not a paid link). Its specification table matches this book's item for item except size (156 × 110 × 17 mm), weight (about 203 g) and material, and Hobonichi's page for this book says the HON has the same contents with a different cover. On 17 October 2026 the store's US display priced it at $37.00. It did not appear in the top 20 Amazon US results for "hobonichi one piece 2027", in the top 48 for "hobonichi hon one piece", or in Hobonichi's own Amazon storefront search for "One Piece" (11 results), on 14 October 2026.
- The Original. This book. Hobonichi says covers for the Original (A6) size fit it; which covers, I leave to Hobonichi's store.
- The Weeks. A different type of book; see "Very Very Merry!" above.
Not assessed on this page, among others: the ONE PIECE covers and other ONE PIECE stationery, the 2026 ONE PIECE Original, the Weeks named above, and the ONE PIECE products of other planner makers. They are listed so you know they were left out, not because they were weighed and found wanting.
Buying it
Two routes, in this order.
| Where | What I read there, and when |
|---|---|
| → Hobonichi's own English store, ONE PIECE edition Original (not a paid link) | Viewed with the store set to ship to the United States on 17 October 2026, the page priced the book at $32.00 and carried no restock notice; the price was the same on 14 October. I did not go to checkout. What the store adds for shipping and import charges is in the English Original's file, linked near the top, under "Buying from Hobonichi itself", and in the guide to buying from Japan. |
| Amazon US, ASIN B0HB8XDFNF (not linked from this page since 27 October 2026) | On 14 and 17 October 2026, under ZIP 10001 and 90012, the "Sold by" line was Hobonichi Co., Ltd. [Official], seller ID A2HG22EPTK8H5A. On 26 and 27 October it differed by ZIP code: under 90012 it read Hobonichi Co., Ltd. [Official]; under 10001 it read NinumuJapan (seller ID A1RSAQFM4OM8YN), which is not Hobonichi and which I have not assessed. Under 10001 on 27 October, Hobonichi's own offer was in the listing's all-offers panel. Because there is no other listing of this book to link to, the link was removed; it comes back if the "Sold by" line reads Hobonichi under both ZIP codes again. |
If you buy on Amazon, search for the ASIN and read the "Sold by" line under your own ZIP code; if it names a seller other than Hobonichi and you want Hobonichi's own offer, open the panel of all sellers and look for one whose "Sold by" line reads Hobonichi Co., Ltd. [Official]. Price and stock are on the listing.
